Father Bednar's Parents Matter: Part 4
Dear Parish Family,
You can't beat God when it comes to humility! When Jesus teaches, "The greatest among you must be your servant" we must ask the follow-up question: "Who, then, is greater than God?" If God is greatest, then He is calling Himself our servant. Can you hear Christ's compassion and gentleness to you? He wants to serve you, to lift you up, and call you to be humble just like Him. God humbles Himself to be with each and every human person no matter how small or seemingly insignificant. We must remember to be humble like Jesus so we can safeguard the humanity of every person if we are to live well as God intends in our 'throwaway culture'.
Remember to vote this Tuesday, November 7. As you are well aware, there is a lot at stake in this upcoming election. We have a moral duty not only to show up to vote, but moreover to vote NO on Issue 1 which would enshrine extreme abortion laws into our State Constitution, eliminate parental notification rights, and take away health and safety standards in place to protect women. We have our fourth and final article by Fr. Jerry Bednar in today's bulletin as well. I hope these articles have been helpful and that you've had a chance to talk about and share them with your family and friends. Let us pray for the intercession of our Blessed Mother upon all of our nation and our families, for all women and mothers, and especially for all women who have suffered through the trauma of abortion.
New Rectory Town Hall Meetings
You are invited to a special presentation to learn more about the proposal to build a new rectory for our priests on the St. Mary parish grounds. Come to a town hall meeting in the St. Mary Parish Banquet Room on either Friday, November 10 at 4:00 pm, or Tuesday, November 14 at 7:00 pm. The presentation will last about a half hour with time for parishioners from St. Patrick and St. Mary Parishes to provide input and ask questions. I kindly ask for your participation in this process as we develop our plans. Please RSVP to the St. Mary Parish Office (440-285-7051) ahead of time if you're able so we know how many tables and chairs to set up.
I am yours in Christ,
Fr. Scott Goodfellow
