Dear Parish Family, Last Friday night I returned from our Footsteps of St. Paul Pilgrimage in Greece and Turkey with our tour group. A pilgrimage is a blessed time of encounter with the Lord, holy places, and cultures throughout the world. I am still soaking in the graces of that blessed time, and I hope to offer a presentation to the parish this Fall with photos and stories to help share with you what we received. Even if you didn't have the chance to go with us, you can still participate in the graces we will share!
We had the opportunity to walk with St. Paul among the ruins of Philippi, Corinth, and Ephesus as he preached the Gospel for the first time in ancient Greece, visit Mother Mary's House in Ephesus, visit the cave on Patmos where St. John received the vision from God which he would write as Revelations, the last book of the bible, and also see the clifftop monasteries of Meteora. I've included a sampling of photos in today's bulletin for your enjoyment!
I want to bring to your attention an area of awareness that our local Pro-Life ministries wish to share: the Safe Haven Baby Box (SHBB). Our state's Safe Haven Law legally permits a mother in crisis to safely, securely, and anonymously surrender their child if they are unable to care for their newborn. The baby box is installed in an exterior wall of a designated fire station or hospital. Once the exterior door is opened and the baby is placed inside, the fire station or hospital staff inside are notified, and they retrieve the baby from the interior door. In addition, mothers can call the national 24-hour hotline to receive counseling and assistance free of charge. Please be on the lookout for more information and resources from our Pro Life ministry in the weeks ahead! Learn more at https://www.shbb.org.
