Dear Parish Family,
The Gospel for this Second Sunday of Lent brings us to Mount Tabor for the Transfiguration of Christ. The Father speaks of Jesus to the disciples, "This is My beloved Son. Listen to Him." Our heavenly Father reveals that Jesus has much to say to us if we are willing to listen to Him. He is the Word made flesh who continues to call and challenge us to see all creation transformed and transfigured by God's love. It's true we live in a broken, divided world. However, God's love is the only power capable of transforming, integrating and uniting what has been disfigured and broken. The Transfiguration of Jesus helps us zoom out to see the big picture of God's plan of salvation in Christ Jesus, and zoom in to see every aspect of our lives and creation under the love and mercy of our God.
Catholic Charities Annual Appeal
Fr. Fabian and I look forward to celebrating our CCAA commitment weekend with you today! This year's Catholic Charities theme is "Transformed By Your Love" and fits perfectly with our Gospel call to see reality in the light of God's transfiguring love. We have an opportunity to give to Catholic Charities to support over 400,000 people in need right here in our diocese. We can take part in financially and prayerfully equipping caring and capable people to carry out the corporal and spiritual works of mercy that we are not able to fulfill personally. Please pledge generously to help us reach our parish goal of $48,479.
Evening of Confessions
We have an awesome opportunity this Wednesday from 5-8 pm to celebrate the Sacrament of Confession with Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at St. Mary's in Chardon. This time of confession is publicized throughout the whole diocese, and it usually brings in those who have not been to confession in many years. If you haven't been to confession in a long while, this is an opportunity for you to come to St. Mary's to experience our Lord's mercy. We will have time of Eucharistic Exposition and Adoration during these hours, so even if you don't need to go to confession, I invite you to come pray with our Lord and to pray for continued conversion of heart for yourself and all those coming to confession for this evening.
I am yours in Christ,
Fr. Scott Goodfellow
