Dear Parish Family,
Happy Father's Day! A warm blessing to all of our dads as we thank them for the gift of their fatherhood this Sunday. Just like the title "Mother", the title "Father" has profound relational and spiritual meaning. We need men and women to be heroic fathers and mothers in order to witness to life-giving family values for our Church and for our world.
We celebrated the Feast of the Sacred of Jesus on Friday, and we will pray a special prayer to the Sacred Heart before Mass this weekend. As we enter into this parish year of the Eucharistic Revival, we acknowledge the superabundant love that pours forth from the Heart of Jesus in the Eucharist, and how our devotion to the Eucharist helps us receive that love deeply for the healing of our own heart's desires and identity.
On a personal note, please pray for my family this upcoming weekend. My sister, Elizabeth, is marrying her fiance, Joel, this coming Saturday, June 24. I am presiding at their Wedding Mass and spending the weekend with my family to celebrate. I am proud of my little sister "Lizzy" and her fiance, Joel, and ask you to join me in thanking God for bringing them together in the Sacrament of Matrimony!
We will have a reception after the Vigil and Sunday Mass next weekend for our new parochial vicar, Fr. Fabian Han. Come to Mass to be with Fr. Fabian as he celebrates his first weekend with us, then join him and fellow parishioners in the lower hall for treats after Mass!
I am yours in Christ,
Fr. Scott Goodfellow
