Our Scriptures this Sixth Sunday of Easter point to the universality and primacy of God's love. In extending salvation to the Gentiles, St. Peter realizes that "God shows no partiality" in His invitation to share life in His Son Jesus. The Letter of St. John reminds us that God is love, and that God initiates the gift of love. Jesus reminds us "It was not you who chose Me, but I who chose you to go bear fruit." Remember that God, who is and can be nothing other than Love itself, has called and chosen you to be His disciple. Never underestimate the gift of love that God has entrusted you with in calling you to share life in Jesus! May is Mary's month. I invite you to pray the rosary more frequently during the month of May. Have a rosary ready in your car for your drive, in your pocket during a walk or a run, on your nightstand when you wake up or before you go to sleep, in your office to remind you of Mary's prayers for you, and maybe even in your den near the TV remote so you can tune in to the Lord before you tune in to the news. I promise that if you are faithful to praying the rosary this May, you will encounter the love of God in a new and greater way. Please pray for our Confirmandi from St. Mary's and St. Patrick's who will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this Sunday at 3 pm. Bishop Amos will be at St. Mary's to preside over this monumental Sacramental moment in the lives of our young people. All things are possible to those who remain open to the Spirit of love and grace. Congratulations to all of our Confirmandi for saying YES to the Lord! Please also pray for our children receiving First Communion this coming Saturday, May 11. May the Body and Blood of Jesus protect and preserve them in Christ and help them grow in faith, hope, and charity each day. We will welcome seminarian Anthony Donatelli later this month who will stay with us during his Summer internship. Anthony is in his last year of formation and hopes to be ordained a transitional deacon this Fall and a priest for our diocese in May. Anthony will introduce himself at Masses here the weekend of June 1-2. Please pray for Anthony as he prepares to come here. I know you will appreciate his warmth, genuineness, and smile. He is a man of great faith and joy in our Lord!
