Now is the time. As we prepare for the end of this liturgical year and the start of Advent in two weeks, our liturgy points us to the end times when Christ will come again. The Father prompts us to pray, "Come, Lord Jesus" to be eager for Christ's coming in glory. Christ's triumphant return to earth shouldn't be something we fear, but an event we long for with joy and love.
Christ comes to restore all things to glory. There's a powerful invitation here to set things right in our lives, to return to the Lord's love and mercy with heartfelt repentance and prayer. Now is the time. As a Lord of the Rings fan, I recall Aragorn's response to Boromir, who was afraid to enter the Golden Woods of Lothlorien: "Only evil need fear it, or those who bring some evil with them." The only thing that should fear Jesus is the evil we cling to in our hearts. Cast the evil out and follow Jesus with joy!
You are invited to a special Ceremonial Groundbreaking for the new rectory at St. Mary Parish on Saturday, November 23 at 1:00 pm. We will gather on the southeast plot of land by the school drive where the rectory will be constructed for a prayer service, short speeches from the City of Chardon, the Catholic Community Foundation, Payne & Payne, and a ceremonial groundbreaking to mark this monumental occasion. We will hold a reception after the groundbreaking ceremony in the Banquet Room. Please RSVP to the St. Mary Parish office (440-285-7051) or use the link below.
